Husband Kedwick Martin was employed by OlinKraft, and their three children all graduated from Neville High School. She taught cello at Louisiana Tech University and NE Louisiana University. Born in Berkeley, CA, Betty centered her life on family and cello. After graduating from Oberlin Conservatory, she was awarded a fellowship from Julliard Graduate School of Music in New York City. She performed with orchestras and symphonies around the world, including the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Bangkok Symphony, and under the direction of conductors such as Leonard Bernstein and Leopold Stokowski. Survivors include husband Kedwick, children Susan Tsumura of Tokyo, Japan, Anne Pummell of Rabun Gap, GA, and Glenn Martin of Colorado Springs, CO. She is also survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She and Kedwick are members of the Northminster Presbyterian Church in Sarasota, FL. Funeral services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Richland, MI on Friday, July 10h, 2009. Burial will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery of Richland.
