A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church of Pineville on Tuesday, August 9, at 2:00 pm. Sue was born on September 3, 1931, to the union of George Thomas and Ellie Paul McLeland. She is survived by sons, Gary W. Babcock, Sr. (Judy) and Alan L. Babcock (Mary); sisters, Etta Faye Hamilton (Johnny), Georgia Ethridge Nolan (Garland), Ellouise Brossett (Bobby); brother, Richard McLeland; sister-in-law, Linda Babcock Vaughn; grandchildren, Gary W. Babcock, Jr., Archie Adams, Angel Fitch, Chris Babcock, Alyson Babcock, nine great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren, many beloved nieces and nephews and her very special church friends. Sue was preceded in death by her parents; husband and father of her children, Bobby D. Babcock; and husband, Johnny Davis. Sue was a member of the First UMC of Pineville. Sue was a real-life Steel Magnolia, enduring many tragedies and much heartbreak but always overcoming adversity to live a rich and joyous life. She was petite and beautiful, inside and out, always wearing her makeup and dressing immaculately. She was gracious, hospitable, tolerant, artistic, funny, and fun to be with. Her passions included God, her church, children (her own and everyone else's), travelling, shopping, giving gifts, and food. She was a wonderful and creative cook, known especially for her homemade bread, biscuits, and cookies. Sue could cook for two or two hundred with ease and enjoyed the pleasure she gave other people through her food. She also loved going out to eat with her family and friends. Sue had a God-given gift for working with children. She served as a Head Start Supervisor for years and also taught many Sunday School classes for the little ones. She had a special way with kids; they were drawn to her like a magnet. The family wishes to thank Dr. Michael Madden, all the MICU nurses at Rapides Regional Medical Center, and, especially Nurse Gloria on the sixth floor of the Main Hospital and Sue's amazing, beloved, and loving friends who sat at the hospital day after day. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First UMC of Pineville, Backpack Fund, 2550 Monroe Hwy., Pineville, LA 71360 or a charity of your choice File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/la/ouachita/obits/m/martin5536nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/lafiles/ File size: 3.0 Kb
