Pastor Mark Foster will officiate. Interment to follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe. Born June 26th, 1921, in Brookhaven, MS and passed away Sunday, September 13th, 2009, in Monroe, LA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman G. Martin, grandchildren, Eric Martin, Barbara Ellen Hart, Amanda Tate Oliphant, Bennie Keith Freeman, great granddaughter, Catlin McCarty, niece, Nell Kinney. Survivors include her sons and daughter in law, S. Wayne and Barbara Martin of West Monroe, James Ruben Martin of Rocky Branch, daughters, Rebecca Tate of West Monroe, Helen Martin of Monroe, son in law, Elton Bourque of Monroe, Also survived by eleven grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, eleven great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Martin was a very friendly and outgoing person who never met a stranger. She worked at Riverside Nursing Home many years ago and delighted in dressing as a rabbit on Easter weekend, Santa Claus for Christmas, a clown on other occasions, anything to make the residents happy and to enjoy themselves. She also loved to fish and worked tirelessly in her flower beds and could name most any wildflower you found. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and always had some of them with her when fishing on Cheniere, Lake LaFourche or crabbing at Holly Beach in South Louisiana. This was a joy to her not a burden. We will miss our mom and Granny very much but know we will see her again in Heaven tending God's Flower Garden and caught up in his Glory as she meets her loved ones who preceded her especially her husband Sherman G. Martin, four precious grandchildren and one great granddaughter. The family would like to thank Christus St. Joseph's and Dr. Krier for their loving care these last few weeks, also to Hospice Compassus for their love and compassion. Pallbearers will be, Sherman Martin, Jr., Brandon Martin, Ross Martin, David Pipes, Mark Pipes, J.R. Kinney. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 14, 2009 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
