A funeral service will be held at Burkhalter Chapel of Trinity United Methodist Church, Ruston, LA on Wednesday July 19, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a private burial. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am at the church prior to the service. Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Ena Margaret Martin was born in Arcadia, LA on July 7, 1931. Her parents, Alfred and Jewel Davis Jones, were from pioneering families of Bienville Parish. She grew up surrounded by many cousins, aunts, and uncles from the Jones and Davis families, and her adoration for her family was unmistakable. Ena Margaret's vivacious smile and generous spirit drew people to her, and she touched many lives. Ena graduated from Arcadia High School in 1948 and from LA Tech with a BS in Business in 1952. While in college she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority and the Blue Jackets Precision squad that performed at Tech football games. In 1952, she married James H. Martin from Ruston. They were married for 41 years. They lived in and were part of numerous communities throughout Louisiana and Mississippi before James' retirement when they returned to Ruston. Ena was a customer service representative for a community bank early in her career, and later as a social worker for the State of Louisiana. Her civic interest included participation in numerous garden clubs, Girl Scouts of America, KD Alumni Chapters and the Junior Guild of Ruston. She also was an active member in the various United Methodist Churches where she and James lived, participating with youth activities and Sunday School programs. She enjoyed over the years playing tennis, bridge, reading, and was blessed with many loving friends who met daily for coffee. Ena Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, James Horace Martin, her sister, Betty Virginia Jones Rich. She is survived by her two children, Beth Martin Murphy and husband, James of Monroe, LA; James Alfred Martin and wife, Millicent of Southlake, TX. Four grandchildren, Amy Murphy Kuhnert, husband Josh, Meg Murphy Wood, husband Matt, Ben Martin, and Sam Martin. Four great-grandchildren, Caroline and Adeliade Kuhnert, Emma James and Lily Wood. The family would like to express its appreciation to Ena Margaret's caregivers, Audrey Johnson, Ruby Jones, Sabrina Smith, and Lena Berry, the staff of St. Joseph's Assisted Living, and the staff of St. Joseph Hospice. Serving as Pallbearers are Ben Martin, Sam Martin, Josh Kuhnert, Matt Wood, Al Rich, Carroll Rich, Mike Whitlow, and Bert Davis. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Methodist Children's Home, Trinity Methodist Church, Ruston, The Alzheimer's Association, or the charity of choice.
