Funeral services for Mr. Leonard Hamilton Martin, age 80 of Ruston, will be held Monday, January 11, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Cook Baptist Church in Ruston with Dr. Mike Holloway and Rev. Kevin Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Vienna Cemetery in Vienna under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Martin was born in Ruston on May 20, 1929. He died January 6, 2010 in Stuart, Florida. Mr. Martin was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of Louisiana Tech University and retired from the Soil Conservation Service after serving for 32 years. Mr. Martin was a member of Cook Baptist Church. He was a Master Mason and was the Past Master of Greensburg Lodge #96, F&AM in Greensburg, Louisiana. He was devoted to his family and raising cattle was his lifetime passion. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of 57 years, Betty Franklin Martin; Five sons: Bill Martin and wife Sandra of West Monroe, Scott Martin and wife Claudia of Ruston, Phillip Martin and wife Fran of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Steve Martin and wife Becky of West Monroe and Stacey Martin and wife Dondra of West Monroe; 16 Grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; one brother Bill Martin and wife Chris of Ruston; two sisters Bettye and husband Ted James of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Mary and husband James Dugdale of Choudrant as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents James William (J.W.) Martin and Hattie May Martin; his granddaughter Sara June Martin and his great grandson James Wyatt Martin. Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM Sunday, January 10, 2010 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston. Pallbearers will be Geoffrey Martin, Billy Martin, Jeremy Martin, Dusty Martin, Kyle Martin, Steven Herrington, Justin Harwood, and Ryan Walsh. Honorary pallbearers will be Alisha Martin, Kelly Martin, Robert Martin, Grant Martin, Taylor Martin, Robert Martin, Tucker Martin, Carter Coffee, Connor Martin, Skylar Martin, Brantley Martin, and Peyton Harwood.
