Jeff Luellen and Rev. David Maxwell officiating. Special music provided by Luther Burney, cousin, whom she avidly supported throughout his music ministry. Interment follows at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Mrs. Mason was born July 20, 1919 in Swartz, LA and passed away February 4, 2013 in West Monroe. She was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, Class of 1936, serving on several reunion committees. Always the frugal homemaker, she enjoyed canning vegetables and making jelly. She was an avid seamstress, clothing herself, her daughters and grandchildren for many years. Mrs. Mason was a loyal member of Ridge Avenue Baptist Church for 64 years, serving in Sunday School and as a WMU mission leader, tirelessly supporting mission projects near and far. Mrs. Mason was preceded in death by her parents, Yeldon "Doc" Tarver (Lela) and Myrtle McCullough (Thomas) Swartz; sister, Bessie Chancey, Palatka, Florida; daughter, Brenda Hood, West Monroe. Mrs. Mason is survived by her husband of 70 years; Raymond Aubrey Mason; sister, Gladys Hodge, Palatka, Florida; daughter, Janice Dumas (Larry); special friend, Sharon Baird; grandchildren; Todd Dumas (Dianna), Dewayne Hood (Breanna), Traci Payne (Dennis); great-grandchildren; Lauren Dumas, Reagan Hood, Caden Hood, Avery Dumas, Elijah Payne, soon to be Emersyn Payne, Brooke Whitehead and Lacey Merritt (Amos); Florida nieces/nephews, June Quinney, Glenda Pacetti (Roland), Carolyn Gross, Palatka, Melanie Crews (Scott), John Hodge (Imelda), Bert Hodge (Irene), Stanley Hodge (Susan). The family sincerely appreciates the kindness and support shown by the loving caregivers at The Terrace. Special thanks are extended to Jennia Adams, Louisiana Hospice, Lesley Bishop, Pattie Slayter, Teresa Deese and Dr. Robert Ewing. Pallbearers are Ellis Auttonberry, Randy Brown, Scott Brown, Billy Clement, Robin Roark and Bobby Wheelis. Visitation is Wednesday from 5:00PM until 8:00PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of West Monroe.
