"Miss Delma" was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. She was not always outwardly demonstrative with her affection, but she did let people know she loved them with her quick wit and a twinkle in her eye. She was known and loved for her famous chicken 'n dumplings, chocolate sheet cake, and homemade tea cakes. Her door was never locked and she welcomed all to her table, which always seemed full of delicious meals made "from scratch" with loving, hands and a generous heart. Mrs. Massey was devoted to her family, her church, and her community. Adored by her grandchildren and great-grands, she remained their greatest fan until the end. She enjoyed watching sports and followed the activities of her family with fierce loyalty. If Miss Delma was your friend, she was your friend for life. Her friends and loved ones will remember her for the beautiful greeting cards she would send on every occasion, or sometimes "just because," which usually included a warm handwritten note of love. Mrs. Massey and her husband Huey, who predeceased her, were devoted to their church and were the cornerstone of every church association meeting, fellowship lunch (usually with her homemade dumplings at the head of the serving table), or celebration of any kind. She abided in her strong Christian faith, and her love of her Lord was unwavering. Heaven is truly blessed to welcome a new angel today. The friends and family who predeceased her are surely rejoicing to welcome her home.
