She was born in Napoleonville, Louisiana to the late Samuel Klotz and Hilda Baer Klotz. Caroline graduated from Assumption Parish High School in 1948 and received a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Alabama in 1952. She married the late David Masur in 1954; they lived in Monroe until David's death in 2000. Caroline was an active volunteer in Monroe. She co- chaired Northeast Louisiana's effort to get all children vaccinated against polio, she served in various roles at Temple B'Nai Israel, including president of the sisterhood, she produced the Miss Louisiana pageant for many years and she was a regular volunteer at the United Way. In 2001, Caroline relocated to Lafayette and immediately became an active member of her new community. She volunteered at the United Way of Acadiana, the Lafayette Science Museum and at Temple Shalom. Caroline will be remembered as someone who never said "no", never said "I don't have time for that", and never ignored a request for assistance. Caroline loved LSU football, Saints football, UL basketball, cooking, a good single malt scotch, watching golf, travel, an occasional football bet, books of all kind (she was in 2 book clubs and was always reading at least 2 books), a glass of wine with a friend, a morning at the gym or pool, and perhaps most of all, doling out advice. Caroline was never at a loss for words; she had an opinion on everything and would gladly share it - solicited or not. Caroline is survived by two children and their spouses: Sam Masur of Lafayette (Holly); and Betty Habshey of Birmingham, Alabama (John). She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ruth Kline (David) and her brother, David Klotz (Gwen). She is also survived by six grandchildren: Lauren Masur Davis, Adam Masur, Ben Kline, Harmony Habshey Welbourne, Blake Habshey and James Habshey and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Delhomme Funeral Home on Bertrand in Lafayette, Louisiana at 6:00 pm. Visitation will be held at Delhomme's from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Caroline will be buried in Monroe next to her husband. Visitation in Monroe will be held at the Mulhearn Funeral Home on Hwy. 165 on Tuesday from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm and followed by a graveside service at the Jewish Cemetery in Monroe at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Temple Shalom at 703 Lee Avenue, Lafayette, Louisiana 70501, the United Way of Acadiana, 213 E.
