CURTIS EDWARD MATLOCK Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe, LA Funeral services for Mr. Curtis Edward Matlock, 77, of Monroe, will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 2, 2009, in the Chapel of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Jeff Smart and Rev. Tony Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Monroe Memorial Park under the direction of the Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Born January 13th, 1932, in Lake Providence, LA, he was a son of the late Marshall Edward and Letha Marsh Matlock. Mr. Matlock was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and received the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in combat. A building and painting contractor until his retirement, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Swartz who enjoyed raising peaches, plums, nectarines and vegetables. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby, and his sister, Louise Moore. Mr Matlock passed away at his residence on Friday, January 30th, 2009. A devoted and loving family man, he is survived by his beloved wife of over 54 years, Mattie Rainbolt Matlock; 2 sons, Jimmy and wife, Theresa, and Bobby and wife, Tina; 3 grandsons, Jimmy Matlock II, James Curtis and Dylan Wayne Matlock; brothers, Marvin and Billy Matlock and Robert Rachall; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Matlock saw a lot of changes through the years, but some things are constant - "God is still God, Jesus is still Jesus, right is right and wrong is wrong." He followed the Golden Rule - "Do Unto Others as You Would Have Them Do Unto You!" Pallbearers are Billy Matlock Jr., James Wiggins, Bobby Martin, Kenny and Jeremy McCaa, David Trichell, and Steve Yates. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Matlock II, James and Dylan Matlock. Visitation will be Sunday 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
