NELDA JEAN MAY

Funeral Services for Nelda Jean May, 82, of Columbia, will be held at 3:00 
P.M., Saturday, August 26, 2017, at Palestine Baptist Church with Rev. Hudey 
Beaubouef and Rev. Mickey Hudnall officiating. Interment will be in the 
Palestine Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, 
West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. May was born May 22, 1935 and passed away August 22, 2017 at Haven Nursing 
Home in Columbia, LA. She was a member of Palestine Baptist Church and a 
trainer at the Louisiana State School in Columbia, LA. She also worked as an 
EMT for Caldwell Ambulance and on the Triad Team for the Caldwell Parish 
Sheriff's Department.

Mrs. May was preceded in death by her husband, Woodrow May; son, Larry Steele; 
daughter, Karen Steele; parents, Hardy and Pearl Lay; brother, Buck Lay; and 
sister, Lynette Lay.

Survivors include her children, Norma McCready (James), Cheryl Ramsey (James), 
Beverly Steele, Dusty Steele (Janice), Gary Steele, Margaret Millien (Steve), 
Eddie Steele (Pam), Frank Steele (Loretta), Ruth Wills (Dennis), and Jim Steele 
(Tina); 21 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Pallbearers will be Dusty Wayne Steele, Jesse Steele, Corey Millien, Micheal 
Steele, Jeff Hatten, Jake Brooks, and Casey Joe Dison. Honorary pallbearers 
will be Will Steele, Larry Millien, Chris Wills, and Nakota Steele.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at the church.
