Mrs. Mayo was a pastor's wife for 59 years; was Supervisor for the Board of Elections in Catahoula Parish for 25 years. She was a bookkeeper for Clerk of Court and a Civil Deputy for the Sheriff's Department in Catahoula Parish. She was born August 12, 1933 in DeRidder, LA. to the union of Melvin and Edail Lofton Dupreast. Her parents and a brother, Earnest Dupreast preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband Rev. Everette 'Shorty' Mayo, of Jena; three sons, Everette D. Mayo, Jr. and wife, Shelia, Tony Glenn Mayo, and wife, Reba and Rev. Kirk D. Mayo and wife Deborah, all of Jena; one sister, Ruth Dickerson of Jena; one brother, Samuel M. Dupreast of Slocum, AL; 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, August 14, 2008 at the Aimwell Pentecostal Church. Rev. Jack Knapp, Rev. Don Johnson, Rev. Kirk Mayo and Rev. Norris Poole will officiate. Visitation will begin at the church at 3:00 P. M. on Thursday. Interment will be Friday, August 15, 2008 at 11:00 A. M. in the Woodland Cemetery of Jena, LA under the direction of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home of Jena. Pallbearers will be Cody Mayo, Jordy Mayo, Everette D. Mayo, III, Jermey Mayo, Derrick Brooks and John Nobles.
