Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday, August 30, 2013 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston. The celebration of his life will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Temple Baptist Church in Ruston, with burial to follow at Pines Memorial Gardens. Mac is now healed by our Lord and is no longer a victim of cancer, no more suffering. Now, we pray that our Lord heal the broken hearts of those close to him as this world is but temporary home. Pallbearers are: Allen Lee, Dr. David Hall, Dr. David Meng, Mark L. Stuckey and Dr. Virgil Orr, Larry Allen, Dr. David Gullatt and Randy Moore. Honorary pallbearers are: Elton Calhoun, Waldon Cummings, Bernard Fulks; Jim Genty; Dr. Les Guice; Ronald Harrell; George Lowell Jeffers; Frank Pierce; Robert Pischner; Dr. Stan Napper, Richard Spelman; John Corley; Temple Baptist Church Adult II Sunday School Department; RHS Class of 1952; Louisiana Tech University's COES Foundation Board; COES Mechanical Engineering Department. Mac was a son, brother, beloved husband, stepfather, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was born on November 30, 1934 to the union of Homer Douglas McBride and Cumi Z. McDougald McBride of Ruston, LA, both of whom predeceased him. His sister, Martha Ann Rucker also preceded him in death. Mac is survived by his wife of 15 years, Victoria; stepdaughter Sara Theresa Kenney and husband, Lance, two grandchildren, Merrick and Grace Kenney as well as a niece Julie Rucker Corium, husband Greg and great nephew, Travis; brother- in-law, Steve and wife Patti McBride; nephew, Matthew McBride, niece Stephanie Humphreys and family; and special cousins, Virginia Allen, Larry and Mary Allen; Jerry Mac and Kathy Allen; Alvin and Jane Allen. He also had many extended family members including the Marilyn F. Genty family of Victoria, TX who brought many delightful times during his 30 year in Victoria. This includes Jim Genty and his family Jeannie Hahn and her family and Marty Huffman and her family. Among his extended family in Ruston are Mengs; Dave, Jun, Austin and Amanda, with whom we shared many memorable times. The Savery G. Stuckey family has grown to be close and this includes Dale Stuckey, Mark and Cindy, Davis, Ava; William and Benjamin Poe; Susannah, Richard and Alexandra Spelman. He worked over 35 years for Union Carbide Corporation and held positions of increasing responsibility, retiring as an Assistant Plant Manager at the South Charleston, WV Plant in 1992. He was known as a 'straight shooter'. During retirement he helped to develop the communication network for UCC retirees; was the editor for the Victoria CRC Chapter's paper and served on several community projects. He was named the first Executive Director Emeritus of LA Tech's College of Engineering and Science Foundation as a result of serving in that capacity for over 13 years. The College of Engineering and Science's Foundation members have also honored him with contributions to a room to be in the new Engineering & Science building named: The Mac McBride Collaboration Room: He has served as President of the Foundation; received COES Alumnus of the Year and Outstanding Alumnus of ME and IE Department. He served in the US Air Force and was honorably discharged as a Captain from the Strategic Air Command at Castle Air Force Base in Merced, CA where he was the Maintenance Officer for B-52's. The family empresses its deep appreciation to the Hospice of the Caring Hearts; Todd Craighead, Tamla Pierce, Barbara Rodgers, Rev. Randy Ray, Charlotte Odom, and to the caregivers: Kessler Thomas, Barbara Thomas, James Carradine; Carmisha Thomas; Mark Easley and our church family. We are thankful for our medical teams which performed heroic work many times during Mac's valiant fight; Dr. Mark A. Blackwelder and staff; Dr. David Osafo and staff; Dr. Tommy Smith and staff; Dr. Zibari and staff; Dr. David Dies and Staff; MD Anderson's Gastrointestinal Team led by Dr. Ahmed Kaseb. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to Louisiana Tech Foundation, PO Box 31873, Ruston, La 71270, noting it is for the COES Bldg. or to Temple Baptist Church, 1515 S, Service Rd.
