MCCAIN Funeral service for Jerry L. McCain, 72, of Winnsboro, will be held at 2PM Sunday December 7, 2014 in Oak Grove Baptist Church near Winnsboro with Rev. Mickey Gallup and Rev. Lloyd Whitman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home of Winnsboro. Visitation will Saturday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home. Mr. McCain was born to the union of Lavelle and Opal Nesbit McCain on December 25, 1941 in Monroe. He passed from this life Wednesday, December 3, 2014 in Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe following a lengthy illness. He was a lifetime member of New Zion Baptist Church but attended Oak Grove Baptist Church for many years. He retired from Scott Truck and Tractor and was a farmer. He was a lover of the outdoors, who enjoyed gardening and fishing. He prided himself in being self sufficient by having the knack to fix practically anything around his home. He was well known for his humor and his ability to tell stories to his family and friends. In his latter years he enjoyed the company of the friends in "The Breakfast Club" at Bobby's and Big Johns Restaurants where many of those stories were told. Mr. McCain is survived by his wife of 52 years Ganeath Wilson McCain of Winnsboro; two sons Craig A. McCain and wife Kim of Dry Prong and Clark A. McCain and wife Ree of Winnsboro; one daughter Carmen McKinley of West Monroe; two sisters and brothers-in-law Donna and Roy Anderson of Downsville and Sharon and Billy Battaglia of West Monroe. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren Morgan Whitstine, Erin McCain, Mattie McCain, Jacob McCain, Connor McCain, Macy Williamson, Avaree McCain, Aydenn McCain, Justin McKinley, Summer Shipley, Brittany Norris and Ashton McKinley; four great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many loving friends. Pallbearers will be David Guimbellot, Connor McCain, Jacob McCain, Justin McKinley, Curtis Nesbit, Terry Sharp, Walter Smith, and Byron Turner. Any planned memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Louisiana Baptist Children's Home.
