McCartney, 78, passed from this life on March 24, 2009. She was born on May 14, 1930, in Holly Ridge, LA. Services will be on March 26, 2009, at 10:00 AM at Holly Ridge Baptist Church. Bro. Jamie McCartney and Dr. Ernest Winburn will officiate. Interment will follow in Delhi Masonic Cemetery, under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, LA. She is preceded in death by her husband Jake "Red" McCartney, a daughter Pam McCartney, parents Palmer and Maude Antley, and a sister Lottie Eubanks. She is survived by a son Buddy McCartney and wife June of Rayville, three grandchildren Kim Mills and husband Cliff of Rayville, Toni Elkins and husband Vance of Monroe, and Brian McCartney of Dallas, TX, and eight great grandchildren Cole, Kylie, Caroline, and Conner Mills and Avery, Spencer, Mac, and Sadie Elkins. She is also survived by two sisters Margaret George and Gloria Powell. She was a devoted mother and sister and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren more than life itself. The family would life to express a deep gratitude to the many special caretakers that Mrs. McCartney had in her later years, The Olive Branch in Tallulah, Deerfield Nursing Home in Delhi, Crossroad Hospice of Delhi, and Sitters Margaret Williams, Othell Mize, Rosie Kenly, and Marie Smalling. Pallbearers for the service will be Larry Neathery, Jes McCartney, Bud Book, David Moore, Carey J. Ellis, and Paul Golden. Visitation will be 5:00 PM- 9:00 PM, Wednesday, at Brown-Holley Funeral Home.
