Rev. Art Beebe will be officiating. Interment will follow at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. Jessie Odell McCarty was born March 22, 1928. God saw that he was tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around him and whispered "Come With Me" on February 13, 2014. His love of life was family, fishing, hunting, Boston Celtics, St. Louis Cardinals and New Orleans Saints. He graduated from Ft. Necessity High School. He served in the United States Air Force in the Korean War and retired from Manville and Georgia Pacific. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Nancy McCarty; sister, Bertis Brown; brothers, Curtis, Kirby and Lanie McCarty; son-in-law, Dennis Alford and great-grandson, Jonathan Murray. Mr. McCarty is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Mary "Jo" McCarty; children; Kim Alford, Clay and Judy McCarty, Gail and David Covington, Wade and Linda McCarty; 8 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Mamie White; brothers, Ernest McCarty, Aaron McCarty and wife Catherine; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held Saturday, February 15, 2014 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe.
