MCCARTY Funeral services for Benny L. McCarty, 69, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 18, 2014, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Roy Duffy officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. McCarty was born on March 11, 1944 in El Dorado, AR and passed away Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at St. Francis North Hospital. He attended Henderson State and Northeast State Colleges. Mr. McCarty was a Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Military Order of the Devil Dogs. Mr. McCarty served as commandant of the Marine Corps League of Northeast Louisiana. He was a self-employed home improvement contractor. Mr. McCarty was a great man with a wonderful sense of humor and always had a smile on his face, especially when he was around his numerous friends. He was a loving husband, father, and most of all, being a grandfather. He will truly be missed by his family, friends, and fellow veterans. Mr. McCarty was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Vera McCarty; and his beloved wife, Nancy Sandra Cloninger McCarty. Survivors include his two daughters, Kimberly McCarty Johnson and Perry, and Pamela McCarty; 3 grandchildren, Blake Lee Johnson, Lauren Lee Johnson, and Chloe Rae McCarty; a sister, Judy Chauncey and husband Dale; a brother, Jimmy McCarty; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Blake Johnson, Perry Johnson, Dabo Graves, John Burnette, Elliott Laborde, John Woods, Jamie McCarty, and Bud Balch. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Bishop, A.K. Cook, Dale Chauncey, and Jimmy McCarty. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
