JOHN PATRICK MCCRORY


John Patrick "Pat" McCrory passed away suddenly while at work this past 
Wednesday at the age of 57. Pat was born December 31, 1959 in Pensacola, 
Florida. He graduated from Gulf Breeze High School and then attended Faulkner 
Junior College on a track scholarship. He finished at the University of Alabama 
in finance. At Alabama he was a member of the TKE fraternity. He then married 
and moved to Melbourne, Florida. In 1994 he relocated to Monroe, Louisiana 
where he cared for his mother after his father's passing. Pat was an avid 
gardener and spent much of his time volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House. 
He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon "Bodie" McCrory, publisher at 
the News Star World in Monroe and his mother, Helen H. McCrory, registered 
nurse, as well as his younger sister, Tracy McCrory Council, social worker. He 
is survived by a sister in Birmingham, Al., Susan McCrory Carse, brother in 
law, Craig Carse and niece Mallory Council.

A graveside service will be held for family and friends at the Pensacola 
Memorial Gardens located at 7433 Pine Forest Road, Pensacola, Florida, 32526, 
at noon on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Memorials may be made to the "Vernon 
W. McCrory Scholarship Chair" at the University of Louisiana, Monroe.
