Take my yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls." Matthew 11:28-29 Graveside services for Madria Anne Guin McCulley, 62 of West Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM, on Monday, February 16, 2009, at Kilpatrick's Serenity Gardens, 8729 Cypress Street, West Monroe, with Father Frank Cohen officiating. Madria Anne Guin McCulley entered this world May 31, 1946 and passed from this world February 12, 2009 after a brief illness. She was preceded in death by mother and father, Bernice and Franklin Guin and brother, Randy Lynn Guin. She is survived by her husband Glen McCulley of West Monroe; son Wendell Johnson of West Monroe; sister and brother-in-law Renee and C.P. Smalling of West Monroe; uncle, Jennings Whittington; nephew Jake Norris and wife Jessica at Ramstein AFB, Germany. Madria was a "refuge" for abandoned and mistreated animals and had rescued hundreds of creatures during her lifetime by providing love, food and shelter to furry friends in need. She was a strong willed woman of sorts, had a "heart for the weak", and chose to walk her own path in life. She was blessed with a love for literature and was awarded first place in 2003 and 2004 by the Southern Literary Festival for her short stories. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ouachita Parish Humane Society or PAWS of Northeast LA. Family visitation is Sunday from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kilpatricks of West Monroe.
