SUSAN CATMUR MCDOWELL

A memorial service celebrating the life of Susan Catmur McDowell will be 
held at Grace Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM on January 4th, with visitation 
in Kilbourne Hall at 10:00 AM. 

Susan Catmur McDowell was born in Montgomery Alabama on May 23 1939, and 
died in New Orleans Louisiana on November 26, 2016. 

Susy spent her early formative years in China and Europe,, which contributed 
to the sophisticated woman she became. 

Susy led an active and varied life. She was a member of The Atlanta 
Historical Society,The Garden Club of America, The Herb Society of America, 
and The National Society of Colonial Dames. She was also past President of 
both The Monroe Garden Club, and The Monroe Garden Study League. 

Susy is survived by her husband, Robert Frederick McDowell, son John Edward 
McDowell son Robert Alan McDowell and his daughter Lauren McDowell, grandson 
William Stout McDowell , and his daughter Norah May McDowell and 
granddaughter Cameron May McDowell. Susy was preceded in death by son 
William Cameron McDowell. Susy is also survived by her sister in law Gail 
McDowell Boggs,and her two sons Dave Boggs and Chris Boggs, and his daughter 
Kristen Boggs. 

Additionally, Susy is survived by her brother Alan Catmur and his wife 
Frances, their daughter Eleanor and son in law Jason Higginbotham and 
daughter Dottie, daughter Margaret and son in law Richard Murff and daughter 
Annie, brother John Catmur and his wife Mary Gaston, their sons Eric Catmur 
and John Catmur and his wife Sarah
