A memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 17th with visitation from 12:30 pm until the time of the service. He was preceded in death by parents, Frank William McDuff and Ruby Douglas McDuff Haight; stepfather, William Rufus Haight; and brothers, Charles and Jack McDuff. He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 65 years, Genevieve White McDuff; four children, Shelby McDuff, Doug McDuff, Marilyn Stanbery and her husband Bob, and Mark McDuff and his wife Alena; five grandchildren, Shannon, Katie, and Kelly McDuff, Cooper McDuff, and Daniel Stanbery; four sisters-in-law, Van and Esther McDuff, Dorothy McGlauflin, and Virginia White; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dan was born on January 23, 1926, in Bastrop, Louisiana. He graduated from Bastrop High School and Louisiana Tech with a B.S. degree in Business Administration. He married Genevieve White in 1951, while serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his army service, Dan earned another degree from Louisiana Tech in Civil Engineering. He then began a 27 year career as a professional engineer with the La. Department of Highways and Public Works, and afterward continued working as an engineer with Ergon Exploration, S.E. Huey, and AT&T in Monroe and Baton Rouge. His volunteer work included serving on the board of Stewards of the Methodist Church, the board of directors of the Lion's Club, and was a member of the History Club of Morehouse Parish. Following his civil engineering career, he volunteered twice weekly for 15 years with St. Vincent de Paul's Community Pharmacy until the age of 89. Dan was a devoted Christian and an active member of several Methodist churches, serving in many positions through the years. Dan's energetic and fun-loving personality allowed him to meet people easily, and he enjoyed many wonderful relationships with family and friends, both young and old. He could always be counted on for honesty, spontaneity, forthrightness, and humor. Those who met him, were quickly drawn to his magnetic personality, and strangers soon became friends. He was much loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed. He left us with many happy memories of a fun-filled home, lots of laughter, and wonderful stories to share of our memorable experiences with him. The family would like to thank Drs. Charles Morgan, Mark Napoli, and Arthur Liles for their devoted care. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 3900 Loop Rd., Monroe, 71201; St. Vincent de Paul, 502 Grammont St., Monroe, 71201; or the Methodist Children's Home, PO Box 929, Ruston, 71273.
