W. (Ken) McFarland, 78, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 3, 2014, at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, Monroe, with Rev. Norman Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.Mr. McFarland was born to the union of Earnest and Leora McFarland in Port Arthur, TX on June 15, 1935 and passed from this earth on December 29, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest McFarland, Leora McFarland Ewing and husband Archie Ewing.Ken was a master mason with Robert W. Cretney Lodge #420 of Sterlington, LA, member of the Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree Mason, and a member of Barak Shrine Temple of Monroe. He was also a long standing member of 20 years with the American Legion Post 51 in Bastrop, LA. He was a lover of outdoors and an avid hunter and fisherman.Ken worked in the Finance Industry 20 years and upon retiring, he worked as a Finance & Insurance Manager in the Auto Dealership Industry and Auto Recovery Business.Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Audria McFarland of Monroe; one daughter, Kendy Walton and husband Todd of Monroe; two brothers, Melvin (Bo) McFarland of Beeville, TX and Eugene B. Williams and wife Gene M. of Princeton, TX; two grandchildren, Cassidy Lea Walton and Evan Ryan Walton, whom he adored; along with two nieces and one nephew.Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children or Wounded Warriors.
