B. "BURT" MCGEE Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA Funeral Services for Mr. J.B. "Burt" McGee, 89, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, March 2, 2009 at the New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Charles Dupree, Rev. Jim Wolfe and Rev. Bruce McGee officiating. Interment will follow in the New Chapel Hill Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Mr. McGee was born in West Monroe, LA on December 11, 1919 and passed away very near to the place where he was born, on February 26, 2009. He graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and went on to Business School in Shreveport, LA. Mr. Burt enlisted in the Army and later volunteered to be a pilot. He was commissioned as an officer in the United States Air Force, and received the rank of Captain. Mr. McGee was a P-51 pilot and flew 90 combat missions. He was awarded many medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross. He is preceded in death by his wives, Dorothy Johnson McGee and Lorece Mock McGee. Survivors include his four children, Bruce McGee and wife Ann of Columbia, LA, Sandy McGee of West Monroe, LA, Kathy Wolfe and husband Jim of Dallas, TX and Phyllis Freeman and husband Mike of Ruston, LA; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Mr. McGee's grandsons will serve as pallbearers, Bobby McGee, Terry Wolfe, Adam Wolfe, Jimmy Wolfe, Joe Wolfe, and Tony Wolfe. Honorary Pallbearers will be Irving Sills and Mike McGee. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Gideons or to the American Cancer Society. Mr. Burt leaves a tremendous legacy of faith in Christ, duty and love.
