Vernon Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Burdeaux and Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe. William Letrell McGrew went to be with his Lord on March 4, 2015. Letrell led a long rich life of 99 years, 9 months and 1 day. He was married to Catherine Joyce Whitehead for 58 years at her death in 2005. They are survived by 4 sons, Melvin Ronnie McGrew, Gerald Donald (Don) McGrew and wife Linda, Bobby Dee McGrew and wife Sharol, and Robby Lee McGrew and wife Sheila; grandchildren Robin McGrew Carpenter and husband Scott, Keith McGrew and fiancé Lacey Monnin, Adam McGrew and wife Tensie, Abby McGrew, Doug George and wife Wendy, Daniel (Buddy) George and wife Jennifer and Daren George and wife Misty. Great- grandchildren Emma Faith McGrew, Bryson Monnin, Kade George, Rhett George, Luke George, Madison George, Dillon Huitt, Emalee George, Carson George, Harmony George. He also leaves behind a special friend in Beau Henderson and special friends Karen, Susan, and Jeff of "Karen Peck and New River". He is also survived by his brothers Clayton McGrew, Joe McGrew and wife Lois; sisters-in-law Barbara McGrew and Ollie Mae McGrew. He also is survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents Will McGrew and wife, Ruth; sisters, Myrtle McGrew Pesnell and husband Everett, Arlene McGrew Powe and husband Waymon; brothers, Ellis McGrew, Leroy McGrew and wife Penny, Hollis McGrew; sister-in-law Edna Mae McGrew. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Makeetha Lamb, Sandy Bamburg, Georgia Mae Evans and the staff at the N.E. Louisiana War Veterans Home who helped with his care and were dear to his heart. Letrell was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church for over 60 years and also had a lifelong history with Cypress Baptist Church. He served his country in the U.S.Army from 1941 to 1946. During World War II he served in Italy, England, Africa, France, Germany and Sicily. He was a barber in West Monroe for over 40 years, most of the years as owner of Central Barber Shop on Wood Street. He retired in 1980 but continued working, fishing and hunting through retirement for several years. Pallbearers will be his nephews Mike McGrew, Tim McGrew, Roy McGrew and Danny McGrew, Gary Foster and David McGrew. Visitation will be held Saturday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home West Monroe, and Sunday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
