Officiating will be Dr. Mike Anderson, pastor of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Mrs. McInnis was born December 27, 1924 in Castor, LA and passed away Monday, May 9, 2016 at the age of 91. She was a charter member of Haynes Avenue Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and Adult Bible Study for over 50 years. She was a loving wife and mother and a dedicated Christian with a heart for service and encouragement to others. "Margie" moved to Shreveport with her husband, Parker, in 1941. In 1951, she and Parker moved into a new home built by her father, and she continued to live there until she moved to Savannah at The Oaks in 2012. Marjorie left a legacy of friendship and encouragement and touched the lives of her friends at Savannah. She brightened the lives of the residents and staff each day with her salutes, friendly whistles and encouraging words to all. Her favorite pastime was weekly bean bag baseball, and she was nicknamed "Dynamo" for her frequent home runs. She looked forward to visits from her church friends and family. Margie was preceded in death by her husband William Parker McInnis, parents Henry Raymond and Susie Lee Koonce, and brothers Thomas Raymond Koonce and Jack McCarthy Koonce. She is survived by a sister Mary Kathryn Koonce Hamner of Castor, LA and two sons, Michael Parker McInnis and wife Margaret of Monroe, LA, and Murray Henry McInnis and wife Patricia of Cypress, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren Daniel Henry McInnis and wife Courtney of Cypress, TX and Lauren Marie McInnis Reeves and husband Brent of Missouri, TX, and step-grandchildren Jenny Barnes Stacey and husband George of Gadsden, AL, and Landon Price Barnes and wife Christie of Nashville, TN along with 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Wayne Floyd, Richard Lofton and Art Ruggles. Pallbearers are Price Barnes, Daniel McInnis, Jim Oliver, Malcolm Parker, Terry Traylor and Harold White. Memorials may be made to the LA Baptist Children's Home in Monroe, LA, the Shreveport-Bossier Rescue Mission, Haynes Avenue Baptist Church Benevolent Fund or the charity of your choice . The family wishes to thank the administration and staff of Savannah for providing excellent care and services during her residence there. We are especially thankful to Natasha Murff, Charmaine Dusesol, Ronesha Murff, Lauvata Drew, Betty Taylor, Asilie Davis, Patricia Robinson, Jazmine Ball and Kristi Mims who provided round-the-clock assistance, compassion and love for our mother over the last several months.
