L.M "MAC" MCINTYRE

On April 1, 2014, God chose to heal L.M. "Mac" McIntyre of his lengthy illness 
by taking him home to heaven to meet Jesus. Mr. McIntyre was born December 30, 
1924, in Gilbert, Louisiana and was a resident of Bastrop, where he was a 
faithful member of Maranatha Baptist Church prior to his illness. Funeral 
services are scheduled for 2 PM Friday, April 4, 2014, at Golden Funeral Home 
with Dr. Vic Carter and Rev. Andy Myrick officiating. Interment will follow in 
Christ Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, April 3, from 5:00 PM 
until 8:00 PM at Golden Funeral Home.

L.M. was a veteran of World War II. He served in Company M, 22nd Infantry 
Regiment, 4th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army from April 5, 1943, until his 
discharge as Sergeant on October 5, 1945. His company landed at Utah Beach 
Normandy and eventually fought in major campaigns in northern France, central 
Europe, and the Rhineland. He was wounded by mortar shrapnel during the Battle 
of the Huertgen Forest in Germany on November 18, 1944. He was a squad leader 
and earned the Combat Infantry Badge, the EAME Ribbon with 4 bronze service 
stars, Good Conduct Ribbon, Distinguished Unit Badge, Purple Heart, and Bronze 
Star Medal.

When he returned to Louisiana after the war, L.M. met, fell in love with, and 
married Patsy Ruth Byargeon. For the next 65 years, they enjoyed a loving 
marriage and built their home in Bastrop, where he was employed by 
International Paper Company. L.M. provided a Godly, stable, loving home for 
his sons, Lynn, Kenneth, and David. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, fox hunting, 
raising game chickens, spending time with his family and friends, and 
attending meetings at Mt, Gerizim Masonic Lodge #54 in Bastrop.

Mr. McIntyre is preceded in death by his parents, John Lee and Roxie 
Whittington McIntyre; a sister, Leola "Sis" McIntyre Williamson; four 
brothers, Frank "Pete" McIntyre, Jessie "Shorty" McIntyre, John "Bud" McIntyre 
and Willie "Teedy" McIntyre. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Byargeon 
McIntyre; three sons, Lynn McIntyre and wife Beth of Collinston, LA, 
Kenneth "Doose" McIntyre, David Cooke and wife Donna both of Bastrop, LA; one 
sister, Donnis Ezell of Gilbert, LA; two brothers, James "Man" McIntyre of 
Jigger, LA, William "Ball" McIntyre of Gilbert, LA; six granddaughters, Kim 
Cooke, Christy McIntyre Aday and husband Jerry, Crystal McIntyre McKoin and 
husband Newt, Brittney McIntyre, Brooke McIntyre, Kelsi McIntyre; two 
grandsons, Mike Cooke and wife Cheryl, Ricky Cooke; six great grandchildren; 
one great great grandchild and a host of nieces and nephews all of whom were 
deeply loved.

Serving as pallbearers will be The Honorable Marcus Clark, The Honorable Jerry 
Jones, Raymond Holley, Newt McKoin, Wayne Warner, and Rusty Cox. Honorary 
pallbearers will be The Honorable Wendell Manning, The Honorable Wilson Rambo, 
and The Honorable Stephens Winters.

The McIntyre family invites you to join them in celebrating the life and home 
going of their loved one. More importantly, however, the family prays you will 
be ready to spend an eternity in heaven (where you will see L.M. again) by 
accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.
