RUDOLPH MCINTYRE The celebration of life of Judge E. Rudolph McIntyre, age 93, who died at home on November 26, 2014, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday,November 29, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, 1502 West Street, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. Rev. Johnny Hankins will officiate the Celebration Service. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. Honoring their father's wishes, the family invites friends to a luncheon celebration from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Judge McIntyre was born on May 5, 1921, to L. M. and Minnie Kersh McIntyre in the Central Community of Franklin Parish. He married his wife of 64 years, Nell Turrentine McIntyre, on April 21, 1950, and they had three children: E. Rudolph McIntyre, Jr., husband of Ann Bolton McIntyre of Winnsboro, William Monroe McIntyre, husband of Nancy Steed McIntyre of Ruston, and Marsha McIntyre Spell, wife of Patrick Spell of Shreveport. Rudolph McIntyre survived his parents, one sister, Audrey McIntyre Honeycutt, and four brothers, Dr. M. C. McIntyre, Roy W. McIntyre, Marion McIntyre, and Kersh McIntyre. Rudolph McIntyre graduated from Central High School in 1939. Thereafter, he attended Louisiana State University. During his college years he was a member of Theta Xi Fraternity. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Judge McIntyre joined the U. S. Army serving his country during World War II for forty-five months in the U.S.A., Europe, and North Africa. Following the war, Judge McIntyre returned to Baton Rouge where he earned his LLB Juris Doctor degree from Louisiana State University School of Law in 1949. Rudolph McIntyre's law practice began as a solo practitioner in Winnsboro. Later, he joined the law firm of Hudson, Potts and Bernstein in Monroe. Still later, he returned to Winnsboro and headed the McIntyre Law Firm practicing with his son, Rudy, and his daughter-in-law, Ann, for many years. During his distinguished legal career, Rudolph McIntyre was elected District Attorney of the Fifth Judicial District and served two terms from 1960 to 1972. While he was DA, he was elected President of the Louisiana District Attorney's Association by his fellow District Attorneys throughout this state. Later, Judge McIntyre was elected Judge of the Winnsboro City Court serving two terms from 1974 to 1986. During his tenure as judge, he was also appointed judge ad hoc in the Fourth and Sixth Judicial Districts by the Louisiana Supreme Court. Rudolph McIntyre served as attorney for Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative and Winnsboro State Bank & Trust Company for many years. He also enjoyed his tenure as board member of the Winnsboro State Bank from 1975 until his death. Judge McIntyre was dedicated to his church and his community. He was a faithful church member serving as Chairman of the Administrative Board of the First United Methodist Church of Winnsboro and as an active member of the Men's Bible Class. He also served as President of the Winnsboro Lions Club and the Winnsboro Merchant's Association and he held numerous positions in several other community clubs and organizations including the VFW Post 3155 in Winnsboro. Rudolph McIntyre was an avid golfer, LSU Fan and traveler. He and his wife, Nell, enjoyed traveling to many countries all over the world as well as extensively in this country. Judge McIntyre is survived by his wife and three children, six grandchildren: Mary Ann White of Baton Rouge, Meredith Marshall of Houston, Joanna Dugdale of Ruston, Andy McIntyre of Ruston, McIntyre Spell and William Spell of Shreveport, nine great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be remembered by all as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great- grandfather and friend. Throughout his career as an attorney, prosecutor, judge, church member and community leader, Judge McIntyre touched countless lives with his wise counsel, humor and service to others. Pallbearers of the family include Patrick Spell, John White, Ben Marshall, Bart Dugdale, and the three grandsons, Andy McIntyre, McIntyre Spell, and William Spell. Honorary pallbearers include fellow board members of the Winnsboro State Bank & Trust Company, the Men's Bible Class, and Judge McIntyre's golfing buddies. Burial will be at the New Winnsboro Cemetery on Robinson Road under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Jeffrey Combetta and his medical staff as well as care-givers, Rena Newton and Colleen Williams.
