Rev. Shawn Hornsby will officiate the Celebration Service, under the direction of Gill First National Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Nell McIntyre was born on December 7, 1922, to William Henry and Mattie Russell Turrentine in Jena, Louisiana. She was reared in a Christian home in Pollock. Her life was molded by her Christian upbringing and the "Great Depression". Nell graduated from Pollock High School in 1940 and from Louisiana College in Pineville with a degree in Home Economics in 1944. Her first husband of three years, Oliver Scarborough, preceded her in death. They did not have any children. During this marriage, Nell taught school in Alexandria and Buckeye. After his death, she became a house mother at Louisiana Tech in Ruston. Thereafter, Nell was employed as a Home Economist with Northeast Louisiana Power Cooperative in Winnsboro, where she met and married a young attorney, E. Rudolph McIntyre, Sr. in 1950. Together they had three children. Mrs. McIntyre is preceded in death by two brothers: Charles Earl Turrentine and William Henry Turrentine, Jr. and by her husband of 64 years, Judge E. Rudolph McIntyre, Sr. Nell is survived by one brother, Russell Turrentine of Alexandria, and her three children: E. Rudolph McIntyre, Jr., husband of Ann Bolton McIntyre of Winnsboro, William Monroe McIntyre, husband of Nancy Steed McIntyre of Ruston, and Marsha McIntyre Spell, wife of Patrick Jay Spell of Shreveport; and six grandchildren: Mary Ann McIntyre White of Baton Rouge, Meredith Lee McIntyre Marshall of Houston, Joanna McIntyre Dugdale of Ruston, William Andrew McIntyre of Ruston, McIntyre James Spell and William Patrick Spell of Shreveport, eleven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. Nell McIntyre was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Winnsboro. She enjoyed many years of singing in the church choir and teaching the Pearl Harrison Sunday School class, as well as teaching youth Sunday School classes. Nell also served as President of the United Methodist Women's organization at the church. In addition, she enjoyed her volunteer work with the Women's Hospital Auxiliary at the Franklin Medical Center in Winnsboro for several years. Nell often substituted as a high school teacher. She and her husband traveled extensively throughout the world. Being with friends and family brought her much joy. Nell McIntyre will be remembered for her laughter and nurturing ways, as well as her devotion as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Because she loved the Lord, she is with HIM now for eternity. The family would like to express appreciation to TLC Hospice nurses, as well as marvelous care-givers, Rena Newton, Dorothy Slaughter, and Colleen Williams. Pallbearers will be Robert John White, Jr., Benjamin Lank Marshall, William Andrew McIntyre, Bartlett Henderson Dugdale, McIntyre James Spell, William Patrick Spell, and Patrick Jay Spell.
