VERNA WYANT MCKEE

Services for Verena Wyant McKee 92 of Columbia, LA; who was called home to be 
with the Lord Friday July 19, 2013 at Promise Hospital, Vidalia, LA will be at 
2:00 pm at First Baptist Church, Columbia; with the Rev. Larry Russell and Rev. 
Shane Duke officiating. Burial will follow at the Rosefield Cemetery under the 
direction of Riser and Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 
9:00 pm Sunday July 21 at the funeral home.Verena was born September 5, 1920 in 
Columbia, LA the first of ten children and the only daughter of Denious Wyant 
and Amy Cassels Wyant. Verena was a homemaker most of her life. She worked in 
the Central Elementary School lunchroom for about twelve years.Verena was a 
member of the Sandy Bayou Baptist Church where through the years she served as 
Church Clerk, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Principle, Song Director and 
was involved in many other actiivities. She loved the Lord and her 
Church.Verena was a loving and proud mother, grandmother, and great 
grandmother. On special occasions the family would gather at her home, until 
the family grew so large we started using the church facilities.Verena was 
preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years Otis Clyde McKee, her 
grandchildren Shannon Ivy Ainsworth, Clayton Craft, and Broc Creel; and her 
brothers, Plez Henry, H.D., Maloy, Earl, and Benjamin Wyant, and her son-in-law 
Waylon May.Survivors include her children: Virginia Ann and husband David 
Ainsworth of Ferriday, LA Otis Junior and wife Judith Ann McKee of Columbia,LA; 
Edna Ruth and husband Mickey Craft of Ferriday,LA; Mary Elizabeth May of 
Columbia, Amy Devonne and husband Shelton Earls of Roxie, MS; Carolyn Sue and 
husband Gary Jacobson of Sterlington,LA ; Nancy Marie and husband Calvin Creel 
of Vidalia, LA; and Pamela Kay and husband James (Scooter) Ruddell of 
Columbia,LA; also her brothers: Archie, Charlie, Calvin Ray, and Clyde Duwayne 
Wyant; her beloved grandchildren, Todd Ainsworth, Mark McKee, Tom Paul McKee, 
Jason McKee, Michelle Edwards, Latisha Sontoyo, Anita Sones, Raymond Hodges, 
James Earls, Kristy Bunch, Denious Jacobson, Sarah Jacobson, Gavin Creel, Tate 
Creel, April Bass, Ashley Hall, Tonya Smith, Crystal Meredith, and Dallas 
Abrams; thirty six great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren and three 
great-great Grandchildren.Pallbearers will be grandsons: Todd Ainsworth, Mark 
McKee, Tom Paul McKee, Jason McKee, James Earls, Denious Jacobson, Gavin Creel, 
Tate Creel, Mark Meredith, and John Hall.The McKee Family would like to extend 
a Special Thanks to Home Care Resources, Barbara Duke, John McKeithen and Mike 
Pollard for the love and attention you gave Mrs. McKee through the years.
