She was a woman small in stature, but huge in courage and fought a courageous battle against chronic back pain and Parkinson's disease. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. In 1970, she was told that she would be an invalid within two years due to her bad back. She started a stretching program, bought a Better Homes & Gardens magazine and taught herself to make macramé hangers for plants. She started a small business at her home where she sold plants and pots and hangers. She then opened a needlework shop in Bossier City called "Knots-n-Needles". After 12 years, she sold the business and went to work at Schumpert Hospital in Shreveport as a volunteer in the One Day Surgery Department. They liked her so much that they made her an employee and she retired at the age of 75. She moved to Ruston in 2003. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and when no longer able to attend, she would sit on her couch, which she called her "pew", and watch the services on television. Thanks to Brother Jerry Hilbun and Andy Hurst for your prayers and visits. Mrs. McKenzie was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. McKenzie of Benton. She is survived by her daughter, Marion Folk and "son" Tommy Folk of Ruston; a son, Robert McKenzie, Jr., and wife Donna of Benton, LA; a sister, Icie Manis and brother-in-law Johnny of Shreveport; nephews Johnny Bill Manis, Ralph Manis, and Todd Manis; niece Penny Manis; grandchildren Laurie Trainor of San Antonio, TX, Leigh Ann Andrews of Choudrant, Jason Albritton of Choudrant, Pattie Aulds of West Monroe, Amanda Wheeler of Bossier City and Robbie McKenzie of Benton; great-grandchildren, Christopher Andrews, Logan Murphy, Anna Albritton, Abigail Wheeler, Ali Grant, Gunner Terry and Brody Aulds.
