Funeral services for Bernard Ford McKenzie will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, June 28, 2010, at St. Paul's United Methodist Church with Rev. J. Roddy Taylor officiating. Interment will at follow Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mr. McKenzie passed away June 26, 2010 at his home in Monroe, LA after a long valiant fight with cancer. He was born June 29, 1959, the son of Charles Edgar McKenzie, Jr. and Suzanne Ford McKenzie. Bernard was a graduate of River Oaks School and Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Archaeology. Following graduation from Louisiana State University he began working at McKenzie and Mouk Inc., in Monroe, LA, which was the start of a successful career in the insurance industry. Before his death he was serving as Vice-President, Commercial Lines Sales Manager for Community Financial Insurance Center. Bernard was recently inducted as President of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of Louisiana. He was a member of the Rotary Club and actively participated in numerous community organizations and was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Bernard was a devoted and loving husband and father who was dedicated to his family and will be remembered as a beloved friend to many. Mr. McKenzie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Edgar McKenzie, Jr.; and brother, Charles Edgar McKenzie III. Survivors include his wife, Barbara Zaunbrecher McKenzie; daughter, Lucy Suzanne McKenzie; his mother, Suzanne Ford McKenzie of Monroe, LA; his in- laws, Harry and Lucy Zaunbrecher of Jones, LA; two sisters, Lynn McDonald and Carrie Davidson and husband Dan; niece and nephew, Frances Davidson and David McDonald. Pallbearers will be Benjamin Marshall III, Scott Anderson, Ryan Sartor, Douglas Netterville, Scott Moore, Kelly Martin, Eugene Montgomery, Jeff Mouk, and Mark Ulrich. Visitation will be Sunday, June 27, 2010, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Memorials may be made to M.D. Anderson Sarcoma Center.
