What a reunion he is having with his parents Norman and Ella McKnight, father and mother-in-law Chester and Grace Turnage, and brother-in-law Jimmy Douglas. Fraulene was born October 23, 1940 in Rayville, Louisiana and passed away peacefully at home February 12, 2016, after a several year battle with Multiple Systems Atrophy. After marrying Carolyn Turnage they moved to Baton Rouge so that he could pursue his Masters and PhD in Poultry Nutrition. Fraulene taught Home Economics at LSU for 10 years and then was the LSU Cooperative Extension Poultry Specialist for 10 years. He retired from LSU and went to work in industry for ConAgra Poultry and later the BASF Corporation. He loved fishing, hunting and traveling. Fraulene is survived by his wife of 53 years Carolyn Turnage McKnight, his two children Scott McKnight (Jennifer) of Houston, TX and Denise Waterfield (Doug) of Kearney, NE. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life. His eight grandchildren were his world. He loved teaching them how to fish, tie a knot, cast, bait and take fish off the line. Dylan, Collin, Ethan, Brennan and Aidan McKnight, Ruthie, Peter and William Waterfield Grandad loved you all to the moon and back. Fraulene is also survived by his sister Sue Douglas, Little Rock, Arkansas, brother Donald McKnight (LaDonna), Lake Charles, La and sister Gail (Ted) Lowery, Mer Rouge, La. and aunt Sara Lou Turner of Sea Graves, TX. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Frances Neal, Joyce McMahen, Judy (Ed) Smith, Joan (Philip) Marshall, and brother-in-law Johnny (Liz) Turnage, and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and other family members. Pallbearers will be Doug Waterfield, John Turnage, Ed Smith, Jim Douglas, Jimmy Neal and Ray Finney. Honorary Pallbearers are Dylan McKnight, Collin McKnight, Peter Waterfield, Al Olinde, Bob Davenport, Don Bedell and Dewey Senn. A special thanks to St. Joseph Hospice of Monroe, and his nurses Shelly, Mary, and aid Denise, also to his wonderful caregivers Ellie Haucly, LeShan Nations, and Cathy Kenley. Visitation is 1 PM Monday, February 15, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Farmerville, La. The funeral service will begin at 2:30 P.M at Kilpatrick's. Burial will be at Mulhearn's Cemetery, Highway 80 East Monroe, La.
