WILLIS MCMICHAEL OSBORN Osborn Funeral Home Shreveport, LA Mrs. Maxine P. Willis McMichael, 79, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2009, at 11:32 PM after a lengthy illness. A Memorial Mass will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 6th, at St. Mary of the Pines Catholic Church. Officiating will be Father Rothell Price. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. Maxine F. Powell was born in Hope, AR on July 3, 1929. She joined the WAC during WWII and was the first woman to serve on the staff of General Eisenhower's office in Paris, France. While there she polished her designing skills at the Sorbonne. She was on the Board of Advisors for the Miss Louisiana Pageant, attended the Miss America Pageant in Atlanta, and put together the wardrobe for Miss Louisiana for Atlantic City for several years. Later she was a much sought after designer of wedding, after 5 and Cotillion dresses. She was a resident of Monroe, LA for 28 years before moving to Pawtucket, RI for many years and a resident of Shreveport the past seven years. Mrs. McMichael was preceded in death by her parents, Olin Powell and Ruth Irene Turnipseed Powell of Hope, AR. She is survived by her five daughters, Kova Trichell and husband, Eugene, of Shreveport, LA, Robin Willis Terrill and husband, B.J., of Dallas, TX, Susan Willis Plouffe and husband, Ed, of Coventry, RI, Koyne Willis Rice and husband, Dr. Charles Rice, of East Lansing, MI and Mari Willis and husband, Troy of Sparks, NV; and 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sister, Betty and Jim Miller, of Shreveport; brother, Edwin and Millie Powell; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to St. Joseph Hospice, the dedicated staff of Garden Park Nursing Home and Dr. Raj Ghandi.
