DONALD GENE MEDARIES

Funeral services for Donald Gene Medaries "Don / Pappa Don / Grandaddy / Papa" 
76, of Monroe, LA will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, March 9, 2015 at Kilpatrick 
Funeral Home of Monroe with Rev. Jerard Toney officiating. Interment will 
follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home 
of Monroe.

On March 5, 2015, our precious Don left his earthly body after a long and hard 
fought battle at St. Francis Medical Facility, the place where he was born. He 
had been a lifelong resident of Monroe and was a retired salesman.

Don was an avid Saints fan and a fixture of Ouachita Parish High School and ULM 
games. He was known for his quick wit and was never at a loss for words. He was 
larger than life and will be greatly missed by all of his family as well as all 
of the many friends he made over the years. Tailgating in The ULM Grove has 
lost one of its most colorful and enthusiastic attendees. We have lost a 
wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his father, J. L. Medaries, and his mother, Helen 
Freeman Medaries.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Medaries; children, Dene Medaries, Robin 
Medaries Stuart (Bart), Chris Medaries (Melissa), Troy Medaries (Brandi), Quin 
Medaries, Dawn Hendrix, and DeAnna Graves (Mike); grandchildren, Derek, Ivy, 
Amanda, Jeron, Quinton, Steven, Aidyn, Toni, Gavin, Hollie, Chris, Stormy 
(Jeremy) and great grandchild, Keira.

Pallbearers will be: Chad Spears, Curtis Nichols, Mike French, Mike Ryder, Quin 
Medaries, and Frank Mushinski.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Kilpatrick 
Funeral Home, 1200 Lamy Lane, Monroe, LA 71201. Brook's Florist will be 
handling the floral arrangements for the family. Donations may be made to the 
ULM Athletic Foundation in honor of Don Medaries.
