VERTIE LEE MEREDITH

Funeral services for Mrs. Vertie Lee Meredith, 84 of Clarks will be held 2:00 
PM Friday December 12, 2014 from the Columbia chapel of Riser Funeral Home with 
the Rev. Jimmy Goodman and Rev. Eddie Riley officiating. Interment will follow 
in the Old Union Cemetery at Grayson. Visitation will be on Thursday December 
11, 2014 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.

Mrs. Meredith was preceded in death by her husband John Meredith, Siblings: 
Edell Dillard, Ila Mae Adkins, Velvin Sanders, Junior Sanders, Vernon Sanders, 
Lesie Dorman, Ruby Blakely, Lloyd Chambless, Shelby Sanders, Pete Sanders,and 
Johnny Sanders.She was a member of the Banks Springs Baptist Church.

The legacy she leaves behind encompasses her entire family including: one 
brother, Robert Chambless, and her

children: Shelia Laffoon, Linda and Jeff Shumaker, Jimmy and Angie Shirley, Red 
and Grace Adkins, Larry and Cheryl Adkins Step child: Jerry and Amanda 
Meredith. Grandchildren: April and Steven Black, Katie and Gary Jones, Jordan 
Laffoon and Whitney Love, Sloan and Nancy Wyles, Marcus Shirley, Bonnie Nugent, 
Elizabeth Bingham, Jamie Shirley, Lee and Jan Adkins, Bob Adkins, Larry Wayne 
and Michelle Adkins, Will and Lisa Adkins, Cheryl and Mike Strange, Lyn and 
Tonyah Meredith, Carmen and Bryan Head;Great-grandchildren: Matty, Michael,and, 
Macie Black, Collin Wyles, Marcus "Bugs" Shirley, Leah and Aubrey Ward, 
Madison, Dylan, Gracie, and Payton Adkins, Logan and Jake Adkins, Katy Lee 
Strange, Ethan Meredith, Eli Head

Great great grandchild: Callie Jo Strange, and her special friends: Margie 
Campbell and Carol Bass.

Pallbearers: Sloan Wyles, Steven Black, Jordan Laffoon, Gary Jones, Lyn 
Meredith, Bob Adkins and Brian Head

Honorary Pallbearers: Charles Meredith, Collin Wyles, and Michael Black

The family would like to give a special thank you to the following: Ruth Jones 
and Eve Baylis (caregivers), Haven Home Health and Caring Hearts Hospice, 
Martha Shumaker and Bro. Eddie Riley for his visits, and Dr. Shroff for his 
many years caring for her, along with everyone who ministered to her needs .
