John Mabry officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Miller passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Stoneybrook Assisted Living in West Monroe. Janis fought the good fight but passed away from Alzheimer's. Janis was born in Nashville, TN in 1947 and moved to Chalmette in 1948 and then to Monroe in 1960. She graduated from Neville High School in 1964 and Northeast Louisiana State University in 1968. Janis was voted Who's Who in 1968 and was a member of Alpha Omicron Di, Alpha Lamba Delta, Sigma Tau Delta, Sig Tau Gamma White Rose and was a Cheerleader. She went on to obtain her Master's Degree in English Literature and taught at Carrol High School, Wossman High School, Benton High School, Robeline High School and was assistant registrar at NLU and University of Alabama. Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by her parents, O.E. and Dorothy "Dot" Brandon; and cousin, Faye Layne. Survivors include her husband, Al W. Miller; children, Carey Brian Miller and wife Emilie of Gonzales, LA and their daughter, Ryne; Lisa Clarke and husband Jim of Buford, GA, and their children, D.J. and Cody Clarke; brother, Jerry Brandon and wife Jane of Downsville, LA; sister-in-law, Rachel Miller Newman and husband Fred of Hot Springs Village, AR; niece, Ashley Pere of Baton Rouge, LA; nephew, Patrick Brandon of West Monroe, LA; aunt, Margaret Layne of Franklin, TN; and cousins, Jim and Shirley Moore of Atlanta, GA, Albert and Gail King of Alcoa, TN, Larry Layne of Hendersonville, TN. Pallbearers will be Carey Walker, Robert Welch, Steve Tew, Skeeter Boyd, Tommy Bordelon, Charles Herold. Visitation will be 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the funeral home. The family wishes to extend their thanks to Carol Dotson and Nancy Fowler who were her loving caregivers at home, Betty Kennedy, Connie Culpepper, and the nurses of Stoneybrook, and Hospice Compassus Nursing Staff.
