JOHN SAMUEL MIMS 

Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA 

Graveside services for Mr. John Samuel Mims, 75, of Reno, NV will be held at 
2:00 P.M. Saturday December 15, 2007 at the St. Paschal's Catholic Cemetery 
with Rev. Matt Romano officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home 
West Monroe, LA. John was born on February 16, 1932 in Fruita, CO to John Carr 
Mims, Jr. and Edith Bell Bennett Mims and passed away after a lengthy illness 
on December 1, 2007 at his home in Reno, NV. He grew up in Monroe, LA and 
graduated from Neville High School in 1950. He attended Louisiana State 
University from 1950-1952. At the onset of the Korean War he left college to 
join the United States Navy. John later owned his own businesses in California 
and Las Vegas, NV. John was preceded in death by his parents, John Carr Mims 
Jr. and Edith Bell Bennett Mims and sister, Patsy Mims Trichel. He will be 
missed by his soul mate, Ruth Park; his sons and daughters-in-law, John Mims 
Jr., Peter and Tessie Mims, Jay Mims and Michael Mims; daughters, Jayna Mims 
and Bobbie Rae Gonterman; grandchildren, John Mims III and wife Amy, 
Elizabeth "Lysle" Tournbaugh, Melissa Mims and Ryder John Mims; his "family" 
by Ruth's love who considered them as their father and grandfather, daughters 
and husbands, Lynn and Paul Brosy and Andrea and Rob Glover; son and wife, Jim 
and Pam Park; grandchildren, Mara and Erin Brosy, Alyssa and Robert Park and 
Rowan Glover; and many other relatives and "The Kids."
