He was 57. Rickey spent most of his childhood in Springhill, Louisiana, graduated from Springhill High School in 1977, and attended Louisiana Tech University. In 1978, Rickey moved with his family to Sterlington, Louisiana where his parents, Martha Sue and Tandy Key, established their grocery business, a business that would flourish and expand to other locations through the years. Rickey thoroughly enjoyed working with his parents and brothers, Terry and Scotty, seeing members of the community every day, and giving exemplary customer service. Rickey was an astute businessman and he embraced the hard work it required to be successful. His approachability, his friendliness, and his customary "How're you?" will be missed. Never one to be idle, Rickey did manage to slow down years ago, in Big Star, just long enough to take special note of a blue-eyed brunette and, lucky for him, received a smile in return. In 1983, Rickey and Annamari Albritton were married, and were blessed with two precious daughters, whom they raised in their Christian home. Alisan and Abby were his pride and joy, a joy which only grew with the birth of a granddaughter, Blakely Jo, just a few months ago. Rickey dearly loved his family and extended family, enjoying many activities with his wife, parents, children, his brothers and their wives, nieces and nephews, and his father-in-law, Blake Albritton. He was an amazing support to his family and could always be counted on to do whatever was needed of him, exhibiting patience, affection, and devotion. Rickey took great pleasure in the outdoors and enjoyed deer and duck hunting, fishing, golfing, and boating on Lake D'Arbonne. He was an ardent fan of the New Orleans Saints and NASCAR and would attend these events with his family when possible. An avid reader, Rickey could discuss notable individuals and historic events dealing with American and world history in- depth. He was also very well versed in the settling of Union Parish and the various people, families, and events that shaped this area. Rickey was a champion of Farmerville and Union Parish and considered it a privilege to call this area home. He was a true community leader and was committed to keeping the beautiful Piney Hills a special place. He served as President of the Jaycees, Chair of the Louisiana Watermelon Festival, and was a member of the initial Union Parish Tourist Commission. He cherished his many relationships in this community, including those at the Farmerville Church of Christ, where he was an active member. To say Rickey was a likeable and personable man is an understatement. Rickey Morris was an extraordinary man, one of genuine goodness. He was widely known and respected as someone of uncompromising integrity who understood the importance of a life well lived. A man of remarkable faith, Rickey touched and inspired countless lives in this community, as he faced the last few years with incredible courage, resounding strength, and the blessed assurance of the eternal life awaiting him. He is predeceased by his mother, Martha Sue Key; father, Glynn Morris; and father-in-law, Blake Albritton.
