Officiating the services will be Pastor D. R. Griffin. Interment will be at the Richwood Memorial Gardens under the direction of Miller Funeral Home in Monroe. Mr. Moy departed this life on October 15, 2014, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Francis Medical Center, due to medical complications. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 6:00 pm Sunday, October 19, at Miller Funeral Home. A Service of Remembrance will commence at 5:00 pm on Sunday. Mr. Moy was born April 23, 1926 to the union of Mose Moy Sr. and Birdie (Talton) Moy in Ouachita Parish (Walls Lake), Louisiana. In the late 1940's, he became a member of what was then known as Zion Hill Third Colored Baptist Church. He was a devoted Deacon and faithful member until illness prevented his attendance. In December of 1949 he married his sweetheart, Helen R. Sims. To this union four children were born. Mr. Moy enjoyed his children and looked forward to their Saturday night excursions with "Daddy" to Five Points for ice cream and Sunday afternoon swimming at the Marble Recreation Center pool. He was an avid sports fan, particularly baseball, and he always enjoyed rooting for his favorite baseball team which often was whoever was playing at the time. He also loved assisting his wife in the kitchen and he was also known for his cooking, especially barbecuing which he enjoyed doing for family and friends. Another great love for Leo was his daily visits with his twin, Cleo. They were an inseparable twosome. Mr. Moy was a hard worker, holding down various jobs throughout his lifetime. Back in the day, he was a popular Lotus Club cook and functioned as an in demand contracted server for social functions and parties throughout Monroe. He also provided janitorial and maintenance services in businesses and private homes, including a private home employment that turned into a lasting friendship with Saul Mintz (deceased), Jean Mintz, and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, W.C., Mose, Jr., Zarela, Albert David, and a short-lived infant; and several half brothers and sisters. He leaves to cherish his memories: wife, Helen; four children, Kenneth Moy (Carolyn), and Sharon Moy, Monroe, LA; Donald Moy and Kevin Moy, Dallas, TX; two brothers, Cleo Moy, Monroe, LA; Perlum Moy (Kate), Jacksonville, FL; three grandchildren, Dartanyon Moy (ReSherri), Monroe, LA; Keith Moy (Cassandra), Denver, CO; and Deidra Moy, Shreveport, LA; eight great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives.
