MARIE B. NEAL Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe, LA Marie Neal, 72, of Monroe, died August 6, 2009 at the home of her devoted sister, Charlotte Colquette, after a brief illness with cancer. Marie invested her career as an educator with the Monroe City Schools, where she began as classroom teacher and later developed and coordinated the system's Gifted and Talented program. Marie is survived by her sister, Charlotte Colquette of Monroe and her husband, Jerrell; her husband, Jackie D. Neal of Monroe and his children, Mike Neal and wife, Jana of Tulsa, OK and Mark Neal and wife, Rhonda of Monroe; her sister-in-law, Mary Jo Savacool and her daughter, Mandy; her sister, Linda Chism; her three sons, Harry Boyd and wife, Tami of Winnsboro, Keith "Whitey" Boyd and wife, Kim of Farmerville, and Ben Boyd and wife, Dana of Kansas City, MO; eleven grandchildren Sara, Benjamin, Jonathan, Bethany, and Audra Boyd, Mel Edwards, III and Amy Edwards, and Cambridge, Caroline, Noah, and Nathan Neal; as well as two great grandchildren, Kane and Hayden Edwards. She is also survived by a special nephew, Michael Page and his wife, Libby and their sons, Matthew and David Page of West Monroe; and a special "niece", Cyd Page Jacobs, and her daughters, Jessica Johnston and Aly Taylor of Monroe. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday August 8, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church in Monroe, where she was a member, with interment following at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe. Visitation will be from Noon until service time at the church. Services will be officiated by her son, Dr. Harry Boyd. Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Methodist Children's Home in Ruston, LA.
