MAUDIE LEE DAVIS NELMS

Our hearts are filled with sorrow as we announce the passing of our loving 
mother, sister, grandmother and friend, Maudie Lee Davis Nelms, age 84. Mrs. Nelms
Nelms was a native of and life-long resident of Calhoun, LA.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 AM, Friday, January 27, 2017 at Owens 
Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston (2300 West California Ave. Ruston, US 
Hwy 80 West) under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of 
Ruston. Dr. Michael Hawley and Rev. Dwayne Monk will officiate the service. 
Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA.

Maudie enjoyed reading, cross word puzzles, crochet stitching and she loved to tr
travel. She devoted her life to the care and nurture of her family.

Mrs. Nelms is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years: Milton Levi 
Davis; parents: Hardie and Birdie B. Sullivan; two brothers: Hardie Jr. and La
Lavell Sullivan; and two sisters: Crystal Sullivan and Ella Mae McBroom.

Survivors include her daughter: Kathy Ann and husband Steve Sims of Calhoun, 
LA; twin sons: Robert H. "Bob" Davis and wife Linda of Choudrant, LA and 
Richard H. Davis and life companion Edwin Deshautelle of Eunice, LA.; two yo
younger sisters: Marie Hicks of Ruston and Rita Gay Nolan and husband Roy of Fa
Farmerville, LA. Also left to cherish her memory are two grandsons: Brian Davis an
and wife Stacy and Wesley Sims and wife Beth; two granddaughters: Krystal Boyd hu
husband Jason and Amy Kelley and husband Chad and four great grandchildren; and a 
a host of nephews and nieces, including a devoted niece: Mrs. Janet Skipper.

Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Davis, Wesley Sims, Jason Boyd, Zackary 
Sims, Chad Kelley and Dakotah Sims.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2017 
at Owens Memorial Chapel. The family would like to extend a very special thanks 
to the loving, compassionate staff of Ruston Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
