Father Mark Watson will officiate; Deacon Richard Nelson, nephew, will deliver the Homily. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until the time of the service in Barter Hall at the church. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, 326 Lovers Lane, Vicksburg, MS, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe. Mrs. Nelson died Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at St. Joseph Assisted Living Center in Monroe, LA. She was born in Mendenhall, MS, on May 17, 1930, and was a long-time resident of Lake Providence, LA, where she was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and Altar Society. She graduated from Lake Providence High School and Northeast Louisiana Junior College with a degree in accounting. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Brown F. Nelson; and her parents, James W. and Gola Lee Layton. Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law: Betty and Bill Kelley of Monroe, LA, Nancy and Steve Coots of Longview, TX, and Grace and Jim Baxter of Vicksburg, MS; sons and daughters-in-law: John and Tammy Nelson of Benton, LA, Jim and Gaynell Nelson of Prairieville, LA, and Don and Barbara Nelson of Vicksburg, MS; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mae and John Walker and June and Guy Robinson, all of Bastrop, LA, and Lorraine and Charles Wise of Monroe, LA; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Brown Kelley, Jon Kelley, Tate Walker, and Jared Walker; and great grandsons, Blake Johnson and Lane Lewis. Memorial donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Lake Providence, LA, or your favorite charity .
