Christopher Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home Monroe. Richard Dale Newell, Sr. was born at home on St. Patrick's Day, March 17, 1940 in Hubbard, Ohio to parents, Allan and Margaret Newell and passed from this life on July 12, 2014. Richard was raised on a family dairy farm and as a small boy got up every morning before school to milk cows and make milk deliveries on his bicycle. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He earned a B.S. Degree in Finance from Youngstown University and a Master's Degree in Business Administration from University of Illinois. Dick's career included positions as General Manager and V.P. of Manufacturing at several converting operations for Graphic Packaging; President of Malnove, Inc in Clearfield, Utah and General Manager of Rock Tenn Corporation in Conway, Arkansas. He retired from Graphic Packaging and Rock Tenn Corporation. Dick was an avid golfer and played courses all over the world. He also enjoyed duck hunting, fishing and snow skiing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bob & Rollie, son Richard D. Newell, Jr., grandsons Richard D. Newell III and Ryan Charles Newell and former wife Sandra Morosky Newell. He is survived by his loving wife, Sandy Walker Newell; daughter Julie Rothert and husband Trent; daughter Jessica Decelle; and special son Jeremy Thompson and wife Angie; grandchildren Robbie and Rodney Newell, Jake, Emma and Lily Rothert, and Christian Thompson; sisters Margaret Ripple and husband Tom, and Mary Jane Craig; brother, Raymond. Also, his "baby" Callie and other relatives and friends. He is no longer suffering and if there are golf courses in heaven, that's where he will be. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
