Bernard Duchesne officiating. Interment will follow in the Gwin Cemetery, Mangham, LA under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville. Katherine was born February 14, 1936 in Mangham, LA and passed away Sunday, April 16 April 16, 2017 in Rayville, LA. Mrs. Katherine was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Eastern Star, and th and the Golden Society at Northeast Louisiana University. She was a member of the Cross Point Methodist Protestant Church in Vicksburg, MS b MS by letter, but attended the Dunn Baptist Church. Mrs. Katherine is preceded in death by her son, Luther Alford Newton and pa parents, Joe and Gladys Cartlidge. Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Luther Bernard Newton of Rayville; daughter, Jennifer Boles and husband, Tim of Rayville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn Boles, Raylee Boles, Laureanda Ray, Stormy Newton, and Alex Newton; sisters, Dorothy Cruse and husband, G.L. of Delhi and Ann Roberts of Monroe; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Yvette Pace and husband, Mac of Plain De Dealings, LA. Pallbearers are Jimmy Farchilds, Trey Farchilds, Todd Dixon, Frank Dawson, Ji Jimmy Strong, and David Ford. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Roberts, Charles Bo Boles, and the members of the Mangham High School Class of 1954. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Kyle Bruynincks, Dr. Ralph Abraham, and their staff. Dr. Lee Giffen, Dr. Bill Johnston, and their staff for for all the medical care given to her over the years.
