Calton Yeager officiating. The family received visitors Friday, October 7th from 12-2 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Percy was born November 2, 1919 in the Vixen Community of Caldwell Parish and peacefully passed from this life on October 5, 2016 in West Monroe, LA. Percy was preceded in death by his parents, Dave Nichols and Lamora Morris Nichols; his son, Jack David Nichols; siblings, Ernie Nichols Willis, Hilton Nichols, Tommie Nichols, and Wilson Nichols. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life and wife of 74 years, Lois Rush Nichols; daughter, Kay Carter and husband Glen; son, John Nichols and wife Karen; grandchildren, Lori Carter Rogers, Kandi Carter Talbert, Chris Carter, Jennifer Nichols Pesnell, Meghan Nichols and their spouses; and 7 great grandchildren. Percy loved his family, his church and his community. He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a founding Board Member of the West Monroe Chamber of Commerce and served on the Ouachita Parish Police Jury. Percy founded M-N Utilities in 1976 and worked as its President and Chairman of the Board until his retirement. Percy was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Deacon at Trinity Baptist Church, Bethel Baptist Church and Ridge Avenue Baptist Church. Percy was a lifetime lover of dogs and had several special canine companions over the years.
