Cheryl Roach officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. She was the daughter of Lonie Dee Simmons and Charles Elton Kelly. Her grandparents were Florence Angelique Wooten and John O. Kelly and Beaman Simmons and Geneva Smith Simmons. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Mrs. Nixon is survived by her son and wife Charles Robert "Bobby" Nixon and Connie Lee of Garland TX, and her daughter and husband, SueLynn Nixon Sandifer and Jerry of Monroe; five grandchildren, Chip Nixon, Julie Sandifer Kicey, Kerry Nixon Chambliss, Michael Sandifer, and Nancy Nixon Smith; great-grandchildren Coby, Caleb and Cooper Chambliss, McKenna and Nicholas Kicey, Dixon and William Sandifer, Abigail, McCabe, Joshua and John Peter Smith, and Chloe Nixon. She is preceded in death by her husband, James Robert Nixon, Jr., her parents and a special aunt, Gordie Phillips. Mrs. Nixon passed from this life on Thursday, July 24, 2014. She was a nurse for 32 years at E. A. Conway Hospital. She loved her work no matter where she was working. She started out in the operating room and joined the urologists as their designated O.R. Tech. She retired for a short time due to illness, but returned to Conway working on medicine, the Tre-Med unit and then went to the newborn nursery when the unit was closed. She loved working with the babies. Memorials may be made to The Ronald McDonald House, Alzheimer's Association or River City Humane Society for Cats. Pallbearers will be: Charles Brent Nixon, Michael Edward Sandifer, Russell Andrew Kicey, Darren Ray Smith, Coby Jared Chambliss and Chris Plaisance.
