NOLAN H.H. Nolan, 49, of 812 Oak Street, died in a Monroe hospital early Monday morning after an illness of several weeks. A short funeral service was held at the West Monroe funeral home at 3 p.m. Monday after which the cortege went overland to Ouachita City, where there were services in the cemetery there at 4 p.m. Rev E.L. Tanner, pastor of the Assembly of God tabernacle, officiated. Mr. Nolan,while never holding office, took a deep interest in politics, and at the time of the last state and parish election he was a candidate for sheriff here, opposing Sheriff Milton Coverdale, who was re-elected. For the past few years he had been a staunch supporter of the state administration. Surviving are the widow and the following sons and daughters; Mrs. T.W. Phillips, West Point MS, Mrs. C.W. Audirsch West Monroe, Mrs. R.C Norman, Sterlington; Misses Dorothy and Dollie Nolan, Monroe, A.E. Nolan, Neederland, TX, John Nolan, Milton Nolan, T.B. Nolan and Hudson Nolan, all of Monroe. A son died exactly one month ago, and his father had not been well since that death occurred, having failed rapidly ever since that time.
