NOLAN Robert Edward Nolan, Jr. entered eternal life on Friday May 20, 2016. He was born March 31, 1945 on his maternal grandmother's birthday in Alexandria, Louisiana. It was toward the end of World War II and his father would soon be deployed to the Pacific Arena. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Edward Nolan, Sr. and Earleene Dryer Nolan. His early educational years were spent in East Baton Rouge Parish Schools and University High School. Upon graduation from U-High in 1962, he then entered LSU, and later attended Northeast Louisiana University (now ULM). His employment consisted of work at Shilstone Co., Baton Rouge City-Parish government, and later as a self-employed business owner of several local favorites, including Tiger Spirits, Tiger Lair and eventually Peppers, a local bar and grill. During retirement, he enjoyed many outdoor pursuits especially golf and fishing with close friends, as well as hunting in the woods of North Louisiana and Mississippi with family and friends. He also enjoyed the beach, Destin, FL and Orange Beach, AL being his favorites. He was an avid follower of all LSU sports and an investment broker in his own right. He was of the Baptist faith. He leaves behind to treasure his memory, his daughter, Melissa Nolan Phillips of Baton Rouge; her mother, Dottie Nolan Tarleton; two grandsons, Nolan Voss and Hunter Voss of Baton Rouge and Natchez, MS; sister, Betty Earle Nolan Clark and brother-in-law, Bob Erle Clark of Mer Rouge, LA; sister, Janice Maude Nolan of Baton Rouge, LA; special nieces, Amy Clark Ellender (Judge Daniel Ellender); Molly Clark Glath (Raymond Glath); nephews, Robert Nolan Clark (Jennifer) and Erle Mayo Clark (Miranda); 14 great-nieces and nephews; numerous Nolan cousins and many close friends, including his lifelong best friend, Terry Maples. Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North Street, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day, Monday May 30, 2016 with Judge Daniel Ellender officiating. A tribute to life will be held for family and friends at The Cook Conference Center, 3838 West Lakeshore Drive, Baton Rouge, LA 70808, following the service from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society , Christian Life Fellowship / King's Camp, P. O. Box 335, Mer Rouge, LA 71261, or the charity of your choice .
