Born on November 6, 1927 in Swartz, LA, he grew up and lived most of his life in Union Parish. He served in the US Navy during WWII, then worked for Gulf Oil Company for 36 years. A man of strength and conviction, he touched more lives than he knew and taught so many lessons with his words of life wisdom and his gentle giant hands. His love of baseball, hunting, fishing, the Lord, God and his family is truly what defined this great man. " Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers' house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you into myself; that where I am, there you may be also." John 14: 1-3 He is preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce C. Nolan, his parents Jurd Taylor Nolan and Erma Smith Lloyd and sister, Betty Richman. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 17 years, Bobbie Cole Nolan; daughters, Sharon Batten and husband, Curtis and Debbie Nolan; son, Ernest "Chip" Nolan, Jr. and wife, Pat; brothers, Bill Nolan and wife, Doris, Ross Nolan and wife, Ruth and Truett Nolan and wife, Alice; stepchildren, Jason Cole and wife, Stacy and Katie Sharbino and husband, Clint; grandchildren: Lesleigh, Shari, Amanda, Zachary, Anna, Ashleigh, Allyson, Andrew and Alex; great grandchildren: Zachary, Kyla, Drew and Sara Bethan. Pallbearers will be Ron Richman, Todd Nolan, Zachary Cole, Ricky Cobb, Jody Nolan, Thomas Wade, Troy Hinton and Marvin Prestridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Cawvey and the Seek and Serve Sunday School Class. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, January 11th at Farrar Funeral Home in Farmerville. Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 12th at First Baptist Church in Farmerville.
