Interment will follow at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Sibley, Louisiana under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral home of Monroe. Frances Lillian Freeman Norris quietly passed away in the loving presence of her husband Bill on June 8, 2015. Frances was born August 13, 1928 in Hattiesburg, MS to Ephraim Hester and Edna May (James) Freeman. The family moved to Ruston, LA where Frances enjoyed church activities and graduated from Ruston High School. She spent one year at Sullin's College in Baton Rouge, LA before completing her BA in Education from Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA where she pledged Alpha Omega Pi. She later completed Master's in Education from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY before moving to Monroe, LA. Frances was a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Kappa Kappa Iota, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed baking desserts, shopping and having lunch with her sister-in-law, Mary Ann at Pecanland Mall, Tuesday morning Bible Study, reading Reader's Digest novels and cheating by reading the ending first, traveling to other countries with her husband and siblings, chatting with her many past students in local stores and restaurants, and spending time with her friends and family. Frances served the Monroe City School system for over three decades as a math teacher and Student Council advisor at Jefferson Junior High School and Wossman High School. Frances' parents, E.H. and Edna Freeman, brother, James Everett Freeman, sister-in-law, Emma Marx, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Freeman, and brother-in-law, Jack Norris precede her in death. Frances Norris is survived by her husband of 65 years, William Warren Norris, Jr., PhD; brother, Jack Freeman and his wife, Diane of Plano, TX; brother, Robert Freeman, PhD and his wife, Beverly of Lubbock, TX; son, Dennis Stephen Norris, DDS and his wife, Debbie of Monroe, LA and their daughter, Cindy Pulitzer, DDS and her husband, Sam, and their three sons, Bryce, Avery, and Vaughn; and daughter, Christi; and daughter, Ashley Gruber and her husband, Jered; son, Joel William Norris, MD and his wife, Shelley of Monroe, LA and their daughter, Taylor; daughter, Carol Diane Sexton, MD and her husband, Robert Sexton, MD of Spokane, WA and their sons, Jeffrey, Gregory, and Kirk; and sister-in-law, Barbara Norris of Choudrant, LA, as well as many other relatives and friends. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe until service time on Sunday, June 14, 2015.
