A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00P.M. at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Monroe, LA with the Reverend John Mabray officiating. Interment will follow at Alabama Presbyterian Church in Sibley, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Dennis Stephen Norris was born to William Warren and Frances Lillian (Freeman) Norris in Baton Rouge, LA on October 20, 1951. As a boy, Steve's family lived in Chicago and Kentucky before eventually returning home to Monroe, LA. Steve remembered his childhood years in Bowling Green, KY with great fondness. A talented and bright young man, Steve pursued a degree in Pharmacy from Northeast State University, then went on to study at Louisiana State University School of Dentistry where he earned a DDS and a Certificate in Orthodontics with top honors. After returning to Monroe, Steve built a practice in Orthodontics in which he treated over 10,000 patients and touched many lives. For nearly 25 years, his patients, staff, and peers alike respected Steve as a clinician and friend who delighted in helping solve even the most complex orthodontic problem with good humor and humility. Steve Norris was a soft-spoken and gentle man who will be remembered for his compassion and his drive by his family and friends. He enjoyed teaching, often taking time out of a busy schedule to share his many interests. In his personal life, Steve set countless goals for himself, and pushed himself to reach each one. He enjoyed many outdoor and sports hobbies from fishing to running, scuba diving to skiing. He shared his love of music by playing the guitar and singing with family and in the choir at Covenant Presbyterian Church, where he was a long time member. He believed in the power of love, and showed his love each day to those he encountered. He gave thanks for the many blessings in his life, especially his dear wife Debbie, whom he treasured above all. Steve's mother Frances Freeman Norris and his mother and father-in-law Leonard and Adele Rosedale preceded him in death. Steve's beloved wife Debbie, with whom he shared his heart and soul for 44 years will hold his memory in her heart. Steve's memory will always remain a part of the lives of his daughters Cindy Pulitzer, her husband Sam and their sons Bryce, Avery, and Vaughn; his daughter Christi Norris; and his daughter Ashley Gruber and her husband Jered. He is also survived by his father William Norris, brother Joel Norris and his wife Ginny Lea, his sister Carol Sexton and her husband Bob, his sister-in-law Susan Posey and her husband Lionel, his brother-in-law David Rosedale and his wife Brenda, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Steve will also be missed by his special pet Georgie. Steve and Debbie wish to express their sincere gratitude to the caregivers who have faithfully and affectionately watched over Steve's life through their service. Visitation will be held from 5:00- 7:00PM on Friday November 25, 2016 at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Monroe.
